Every athlete needs a coach, even if the athlete is a coach themselves. As a coach I want to know what it takes to be a better coach for our members. We all have our own unique general coaching techniques. I want to get more personal with the members and cater to what works for them. Some people like positive encouragement, others like to get yelled at. Leave your comments, tell me what you want to see more of.
I am Muslim and the holy month of Ramadan started a few days ago. The big decision at hand is whether or not to fast and sacrifice my training. I am not very religious and have gone with the choice to not fast so that I may continue to train.
For those who dont know, during the month of Ramadan, one abstains from eating from sunrise to sunset. During the summer months, thats about 14 hours of no food and no water. You cant ingest ANYTHING during that time period.
You see now why training during Ramadan can be a problem? Especially if you’re doing high intensity things such as crossfit like I do, it can be a big problem. I also have a very hard time putting on and maintaining weight and can’t afford to skip out on meals. 14 hours of no eating and drinking is brutal, I’ve done it. I move forward knowing that religiously I am not making the best decision but for myself as an individual I am.
