It's not about the physical
When I say it’s not about the physical, I’m talking appearance people! I know, I know, it’s easy for you to say Beast, you weigh like 85 pounds soaking wet. This is the typical response I get when I try to help people see their ways. Guess what? As much as you worry about and struggle with losing weight I do the same with gaining. Everyone has their issues with their physical...
Creating your own inspiration
We tend to find the most inspiration in others. One major thing we fail to realize is that we are most inspired by those pushing through their struggle. We are most inspired by them when they are fighting through something that isn’t easy for them. Why don’t we do the same? Take that inspiration, use it to fight your own tough battles and inspire others. You can’t sit around...
Needless to say my legs are shot!
After our 2 year anniversary WOD which involved lots of running, squatting, and jumping and then doing the Crossfit Games Open WOD 12.4 yesterday, my legs are completely useless. Getting out of bed is a mission, I can’t imagine what walking long distances must feel like. Luckily for now the only distance I have to walk would be from my room to the kitchen to the bathroom. :)
Paleo Pad Thai Recipe...
Ingredients:
Half an onion
4 cloves garlic
Fish oil
Chili Garlic Sauce
Apple cider vinegar
Almond butter
3 green zucchinis
4 yellow squash
1lb of chicken breast
I sliced the zucchini and squash using a slicer/potato peeler. I put that to the side and started chopping up my onion and garlic. I sauteed the onion and garlic in coconut oil until soft and added the chicken. I seasoned the...
For a dear friend →
I am running The Revlon Run for Women 5k this year for a dear friend who lost her mother to cancer in November. We walked it last year while her mother was in remission and unfortunately the cancer returned and Ms. Battle lost her battle. The war on cancer continues so I would love if anyone would be willing to help this cause out. I am running my heart out this year. Please help in the fight...
Games Open 12.2
I tried to be a good representation today and show our members that having heart and not giving up on yourself is not failure. I am a small framed girl (strong for my size but I’m not superwoman) and I can put some numbers up. Weight overhead? Not exactly my best lift ( can we say the worse?? lol) but I am ok with that because I know that I give my all! :) Now let’s talk snatches...
Games Open 12.1
Seven minutes of anything is torture, seven minutes of burpees is hell! Genius that I am, I counted reps for four other people before I decided to do my burpees. It’s safe to say I was nauseous prior to my workout. I feel like I kept a pretty steady pace until I caught a cramp in my side that I couldn’t shake off. It slowed me down a lot but I didn’t stop. My arms went numb after...
Fear
Ever since having this awesome opportunity to intern/coach at the box I have noticed quite a few things. One major thing I see is fear. I’ve been working with a few of our members on skills, drills, and movements they want to get better at. It is not their inability to do the movements that are holding them back, it’s fear. The fear of failing and the fear of getting hurt. One thing I...
